“Happy Dog” Poem

“I’m a happy dog at the beach
If I had the power of speech
I would tell you all
To throw my ball
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
There are no new tricks you can teach
I’m bouncy and glad
And my tail wags like mad
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
My joy is always in reach
Whatever the talk
It’s the best place to walk
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
As I hear the seagulls screech
I chase and I bark
Long into the dark
I’m a happy dog at the beach

I’m a happy dog at the beach
And I don’t want to start to preach
But if you ask me
The best thing to see
Is a happy dog at the beach”

By, Flying Lemming

I really enjoyed reading this poem because, it focuses on the pure joy of a dog. It also shows how dogs can easily become carefree without a concern in the world. This poem shows all of these things in the perspective of a dog on the beach.

Challenge Week Three: My Favorite Apps

Apps are part of our everyday life, they help us do many things quicker than we would have been able to without them. Today I am going to tell you five of my favorite apps. Some of them are actually beneficiary, and some of them are just for entertainment. But either way apps have changed our lives, for the better: or for worse?

1. The first app that I am going to tell you about today is iTunes. This app is my favorite, because iTunes has millions of songs, videos, and podcasts that you can download wirelessly onto your device. Although you do have to be 18 years or older to make an account (Which you need in order to buy the music.), a parent can make one for the whole family so everyone can enjoy iTunes.

2. This second app is called Netflix, which I use it on my T.V., even though it is available for mobile devices. Netflix is a very cool app, that allows its users to stream thousands of movies/ series into your home. For example, let’s say one of your friends was telling you about a movie that he just saw (on D.V.D.), and you want to see it too. So you go home, do your homework(?), and get onto Netflix. After a few minutes, bam there you are watching the very same movie that your friend was talking about. Netflix does require a subscription(which you have to be 18 years or older to do), and it costs $15 a month. But I definitely think that it is worth it.

3. App number three is a handy app called pages. Pages is a versatile app that features countless tools and formats to help its users write a document, essay, contract, or flyer. I myself have composed many school papers on pages, and it has never let me down. Pages does not require a certain age or subscription, it does however cost $4.99. The choice is yours if you want to buy this app, but for me it’s a no brainier.

4. The fourth app is a fun and silly game called Surgery Simulator. In this app you are a clumsy surgeon who just got his medical license to preform surgeries on anyone whose name is Bob. The more surgeries you complete successfully, the wider variety of surgeries you unlock. Surgery Simulator does have an age restriction of 12 years and older, but you can play without a subscription. This game also cost a steep price of $5.99 which causes many buyers to turn away, but I assure you it is worth it.

5. Finally my fifth favorite app is Instagram. Instagram is an app that lets you share pictures with your friends instantly. The way that you see pictures that your friends post is that you follow them. Instagram is an app that requires a subscription and has an age restriction of 12 years and older, but it is free. Anyways if I were you I would definitely get this app.

So those my top five favorite apps. What are yours?

The Nightmare

Darkness, only darkness.

Eyes starting to adjust; you now see alone figure on an island of shards. He stands, hunched over an old organ. You see him frantically scribbling notes on torn up pieces of paper.

He turns toward you and stares. Getting up from the organ, he rapidly makes his way down the island, narrowly avoiding countless shards of obsidian. He reaches a wooden rowboat at the base of the island and crawls in it. The rowboat creaks loudly under his added weight. And he rows, slowly but steadily coming right towards you!

He is covering the distance surprisingly fast, soon you are able to make out the words written on the hull.

The Phantom

That name reminds you of vague feelings of dread, fight and pity(?). It also carries a hint of mistrust.

The rowboat is now so close that you can see a lone figures face. But alas, a mask hides it (So the world can never find him?).

The rowboat has now beached on the cold hard obsidian shore. He abandons the rowboat, and walks towards you. He stops just a few feet away from you.

You try to look away,

you can’t.

Shaken, you try to turn around,

nothing happens.

You wrench at your feet, begging them to move,

they don’t.

Finally, he utters a single word,

“Christine”

July 16, 2532

I stumbled through the door and fell down onto the non-flammable carpet, I was dehydrated. “He needs water right away.” Everything started to swirl as the lack of fluids and prolonged heat exposure got to me. I felt a cool rush of water enter my mouth.

I had tried to prepare for the night; it didn’t work. The heat oozed in through the floorboards and sapped all of the water out anything in its path. My potted plants didn’t even last an hour without wilting. I quickly retreated to the kitchen, jumped into my tiny refrigerator and slammed the door behind me.

This is an update on the two people during the catastrophic month of July, 2532.
Will they survive?
Will Earth survive?

My Favorite Class

Simple programs, instructional videos that practically give you the answer. These are the reasons why Tech Systems is my favorite class.

Every morning from 9:21 to 10:12, I know that I’m safe. Safe from the catastrophe that is school, because I’m in Tech Systems.

In Tech Systems, so far we have covered the program iMovie, Scratch, and Sketchup. Each one easier than the last. Designed with simple controls and compositions.

There is another thing that makes the class my favorite. That would be the instructional videos. They practically do the project for us.

In the end these are the reasons Tech Systems is my favorite class by far.

A Christmas Carol

Just before the end of last semester as a class we read A Christmas Carol, and I really enjoyed it. So I thought that I should write a blog post on my thoughts about it.

The story is about an old miser named Scrooge who was very cold hearted. His deceased partner (who was just like him) visits him as a ghost to warn him about the horrible thing that will come if he doesn’t change his ways of a miser. After rejecting to change his ways Scrooge is visited by three spirits, the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future. Who convince him to change his ways. When Scrooge is free of the spirits presence he is a new man who is joyous and generous to those around him.

In the end I really enjoyed this book and I hope others who have read it did too.

Home Run

The hot unforgivable sun

Beating down on me

“Strike three you’re out”

I stepped up to the worn down plate

First pitch high and inside

“Strike one”

Second pitch curveball swing and a miss

“Strike two”

Third pitch right down the middle

My bat perfectly makes contact with the ball

“Going going gone its out of here!”
